Why are only balanced takeoff distances used?

When generating data from SCAP, we don’t know the specific runway in advance. As a result, we generate a collection of balanced takeoff distances and other takeoff data. This approach:
  • Keeps the data file size manageable for iPad use.
  • Does not allow credit for clearways or stopways.
  • Does not optimize V1 based on runway characteristics.
Generating full accelerate-go and accelerate-stop data for a range of V1/VR ratios would result in files that are too large for practical use on mobile devices.
