What are declared distances?

Declared distances are the maximum usable runway lengths published for takeoff and landing performance calculations. These include:
  • TORA (Takeoff Run Available): The runway length available and suitable for the ground run of a takeoff.
  • TODA (Takeoff Distance Available): TORA plus any clearway—used for calculating the airborne portion of takeoff.
  • ASDA (Accelerate-Stop Distance Available): The runway length available for a takeoff that is aborted at V1—may include a stopway.
  • LDA (Landing Distance Available): The runway length available for landing, from the threshold to the end of the runway.
