VAPP and MA Grad

APG’s calculated VAPP on the landing card represents the single-engine missed approach speed associated with the selected missed approach flap configuration.

Flying this speed, with the corresponding flap setting, will result in achieving the displayed Missed Approach Climb Gradient (MA GRAD) under the specified conditions.

You should maintain this VAPP speed during the initial segment of the missed approach until completing the acceleration phase of the single-engine profile. At that point, you would transition to and continue climbing at the calculated VFS (Final Segment Speed).

Note: Do not confuse APG’s VAPP with the final approach speed used during the approach phase prior to slowing to VREF at the threshold. VAPP is specific to the go-around segment and is not intended for use during the stabilized approach to landing.
