How to troubleshoot a download error in iPreFlight3?

 The Download screen in iPreFlight includes several options. Two of the most important are "Clear & Refresh" and "Check for Updates".

Clear & Refresh

What it does:

  • Completely wipes all previously downloaded data from the device and resets the download screen.

What happens next:

  • Prompts the user for confirmation before proceeding.
  • Deletes all downloaded files.
  • Unlocks any previously locked downloads.
  • Contacts APG servers to retrieve the latest versions of:
    • Airfield database
    • Aircraft downloads
    • Weight & balance files

When to use it:

  • Use this if the download screen appears incorrect, files are missing, or downloads aren’t working properly. It gives you a clean slate.


Check for Updates

What it does:

  • Checks for any new or updated files without deleting existing downloads.

What happens next:

  • Contacts APG servers to check for updates.
  • Displays available updates for airfield and aircraft data.
  • Automatically downloads the latest weight & balance files.

When to use it:

  • Ideal for quick updates—such as when a customer requests a flap setting change or weight & balance update.

Key Differences:

  • Clear & Refresh: Wipes and resets everything.
  • Check for Updates: Keeps existing data and adds only what’s new.
  • Speed: Check for Updates is faster and less disruptive.
