How does APG meet CASA obstacle clearance requirements without STODA?

APG performs a detailed, scenario-specific analysis using:
  • Individual surveyed obstacles.
  • A global terrain database.
  • Aircraft-specific parameters (e.g., runway, slope, weight, thrust settings).
This method produces results similar to STODA but optimized for your exact aircraft and conditions. APG’s analysis includes:
  • Acceleration altitude
  • Takeoff thrust time limits
  • Distant terrain beyond the survey area
  • As weight is reduced for obstacle clearance, the required takeoff distance and climb gradient also decrease—mirroring the logic behind STODA.
